A snorkeling photograph - a Blotched Stingray

Nice and slow - big - easy

Maldives - Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef resort - Hembadhu island
Which compact camera and settings
Fujifilm Finepix F70 EXR - Auto - No flash - F3.3, 1/450 sec, Iso 200, Focal length 5mm
Like all stingrays, the blotched stingray is big, so easy to focus on and slow moving and not at all shy.   Challenging to catch them at their own level though!

The original photo had washed-out background colours 'again' due to the very basic camera and it's white balance problem (sorry to keep banging on).
Since using a better compact, only slight white balance correction is required by photo editing software.

Provided the camera is right, nice colours are easy to achieve without spending much (if any), money, as the software usually comes with the camera.   If not, PaintShop Pro costs about £40.

At 5PM each day at the main beach at Vivanta by Taj they feed the stingrays and other fish.   Small sharks and giant trevally etc.

About 20 stingrays assemble and virtually beach themselves to be hand fed.
